Coup in Turkey, sentenced to life imprisonment philanthropy
Osman Kavala

A Turkish court has sentenced philanthropist Osman Kavala to life in prison in a case that international allies consider politically motivated.

Osman Kavala has so far served 4 years behind bars after being convicted. He pleaded guilty to charges related to the 2013 national protests and the failed 2016 coup.

Kavala denies these allegations and says that the government is killing the judicial system with this decision. The process was followed directly and by Western diplomats.

The activist was first accused of orchestrating and financing the 2013 anti-government protests, but they fell through. Later, he found himself included in the list of organizers of the 2016 coup, where thousands of people were arrested and lost their jobs.
