An inquest into the deaths of Mike Lynch, his daughter and two friends will open today, more than a month after their tragic deaths when the tycoon's superyacht Bayesian sank on August 19.
British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, 59, died in the freak storm off the coast of the Italian island, along with his 18-year-old daughter Hannah, four other passengers and the ship's chef.
Inquests into the deaths of Dr Lynch, Hannah, Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, 70, and his 71-year-old wife, Judy Bloomer, will open at Suffolk Coroners' Court.
In a new ITV documentary, a Bayesian photograph was revealed, taken by a passenger on a neighboring yacht 14 minutes before the disaster.
From the footage it appears that a door in the superyacht's hull was closed, contradicting claims that the crew mistakenly left it open and this caused the 56m yacht to flood.
The captain of a boat near Bayesian has described the moment the superyacht sank in Sicily as terrifying.
One of the divers who were part of the rescue teams, who took part in the Bayesian search for victims, said that it took a long time to find Mike Lynch's daughter, Hannah, because of her "small size".
He added that the 18-year-old's revelation had been particularly devastating, given her young age.
"When you're looking for a child or a young person, it affects you more than an adult," he said.
