An unusual phenomenon has worried residents in Turkey near the Sea of Marmarma, as its waters near Istanbul have suddenly receded by 20 to 25 meters.
The University of Engineering in Istanbul announced the event and underlined that the phenomenon is not related to the earthquake that hit the southeast of the country.
"The withdrawal is due to the high pressure center that is located in the west of Turkey, over Istanbul, the wind has been blowing from north to south, that is, in the Sea of Marmara.
For this reason, the water level is decreasing and receding on the northern coast of the Marmara Sea in the direction of Avcilar, while the level is increasing on the southern coast of the aforementioned sea," the university's announcement states.
According to the Meteorological Administration, the intensity of this wind is 20 kilometers per hour.
