US President Donald Trump has stated that the decision to engage in war with Iran did not come as a result of pressure from Israel, but as a result of his long-held beliefs and developments following the October 7 attacks.

"Israel never pushed me into war with Iran. The events of October 7, combined with my abiding belief that Iran should never have nuclear weapons, were the reason," Trump said.

In his statement, he harshly attacked the media and analysts, calling them "fake news" and claiming that most of the reports are untrue.

"90% of what they say are lies and fabricated stories, while the polls are rigged," he said, also repeating his claim that the 2020 presidential election was rigged.

The statement comes at a time of high tensions in the Middle East, where the US administration is facing pressure for negotiations while at the same time continuing its strong stance on the Iranian nuclear program.

Trump also suggested the possibility of regime change in Iran, hinting that new leadership could bring a better future for the country.

"Just like in Venezuela, the results in Iran will be extraordinary. If the new leaders are smart, Iran can have a great and prosperous future," he declared.

United States Vice President JD Vance is headed to Pakistan for peace talks with Iran and is expected to arrive in Islamabad "within hours."
