Gabriel Escobar, special emissary of the USA for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, will visit Pristina tomorrow.
A week after the American secretary, Antony Blinken, spoke by phone with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the US envoy for the dialogue comes to Pristina. This time, too, with a "broader mission".
Gazeta Express learns that, in addition to the meeting with government officials, Escobar has invited three opposition leaders, Memli Krasniq of the PDK, Lumir Abdixik of the LDK and Ramush Haradinaj from the AAK, for a meeting at the American Embassy in Pristina. The meeting is expected to be held tomorrow at noon.
Also, at around 08:45, the special envoy of the USA will hold a meeting with the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osman.
This is the second time in a few months that the American special envoy for the Western Balkans and dialogue comes to Kosovo and gathers the opposition.
The last time, Escobar had dinner with all the leaders of the parliamentary opposition parties, together, at the residence of the American ambassador, Jeff Hovenier.
At that time, the American emissary came to Kosovo, a few days before the deadline when the two Government decisions on the implementation of reciprocity agreements on Serbian documents and license plates were expected to enter into force. The internationals who were afraid of the escalation of the situation landed in Pristina.
In recent weeks, international intervention in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue has intensified.
In addition to Secretary Blinken's phone call with Prime Minister Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandër Vucic, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Emmanuel Macron were also engaged. These two have sent proposals to Kurti and Vucic through their advisers who visited Pristina and Belgrade in September.
