Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's landmark trip to meet Joe Biden in Washington was conducted by the United States involving NATO spy planes and US fighter jets in a meticulously planned operation with maximum security.

The visit of the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States of America received the attention of the international media and the Ukrainian leader returned from it with billions of dollars in military aid and American support until the end of the war.

But the realization of this visit had its risks, successive vicissitudes and strong security.

The extraordinary measures taken to transport President Zelensky from Ukraine to the American capital showed once again how crucial the relationship between the two countries is.

After visiting the frontline in eastern Ukraine on Tuesday, Zelensky's transport to Washington began with an overnight train ride to Poland before boarding a US Air Force plane, backed by a NATO spy plane and a F-15 fighter jet.

Earlier, a US surveillance (air warning and control) plane was dispatched from its base in Geilenkirchen, Germany, on a reconnaissance mission over the North Sea, which is patrolled by Russian submarines.

News of the visit to Washington began circulating earlier this week, but was not confirmed until early Wednesday morning, when US officials felt confident.

As soon as Zelensky arrived in the US, his protection was taken over by the US Secret Service, as is customary for heads of state.

Many Western leaders and officials have traveled by train to visit Zelensky in Kiev, but this was his first time abroad since the start of the war in Russia.
