Biden and Trump accept CNN's invitation: TV showdown on June 27
Joe Biden and Donald Trump

American President Joe Biden and his predecessor in office, at the same time the Republican candidate for the 2024 Presidential elections, Donald Trump, will have a sensational televised showdown, even though it was rumored that something like this would not happen.

They have both accepted an invitation from CNN to debate on June 27, in a historic showdown that will give new impetus to each's goals for the final months of the campaign.

"I received and accepted an invitation from CNN for a debate on June 27. I'm waiting for you, Donald. Like you said: anywhere, anytime, anywhere," Biden wrote in a post on the X platform.

After this reaction of the President, an official of the Trump campaign informed CNN that the former President had also accepted the offer.

Biden and Trump's acceptance of an invitation to a televised showdown is the latest development in a rapidly escalating debate between the two political rivals.

Biden's campaign organizers earlier called on Trump to agree to appear in two televised presidential debates and formally informed the Commission on Presidential Debates that the president will not participate in the debates previously scheduled for the fall.
