Slovak media reports that the author of the assassination attempt against the prime minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, is a 71-year-old poet.

Suspected author Juraj Cintula had served in the past as a former employee of a private security company and is the author of a collection of poems. The news is announced by the local television Markiza.

In 2016, Cintula himself survived an assassination attempt when he was attacked in a shopping center in the town of Levice by a young man who was drunk.

Cintula's son stated that his father had a gun permit and denied reports that Cintula was a psychiatric hospital patient.

Cintula is now in custody and his case is being handled by the Slovak National Criminal Agency.

While Prime Minister Fico is still in the operating room with three bullets, in the stomach, arm and leg.
