The former mayor of Mitrovica, Agim Bahtiri, has stated that Serbian gangs have beaten a Kosovar family from the diaspora and stolen their car in the North of Kosovo.

"Members of these masked Serbian groups stopped a Kosovar family that was going to Switzerland, beating them and taking their car. These citizens are being treated in the Mitrovica hospital, which I just visited, and fortunately their health condition is stable", writes Bahtiri.

Bahtiri called on Kosovo Serbs to contribute to calming the situation and not to join criminal gangs.

"I invite the Serbian citizens of the Republic of Kosovo not to join criminal groups in the north and to contribute to calming the situation. The Republic of Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state, and no one can violate its security and territorial integrity. The institutions of Kosovo are obliged to take care of the implementation of the Constitution in every corner of the territory", he added.
