A joint operation of the headquarters of the Civil Guard in Burgos and Palencia has led to the arrest of two men, 38 and 28 years old and of Albanian nationality, as suspected perpetrators of a wave of robberies in eight houses in both provinces.
The Civil Guard has dismantled the gang that sowed fear in the residents of the Merindad de Río Ubierna region of Burgos. KD, 38 years old, and HM, 28 years old, were taken into custody.
During the last months, both in the Civil Guard Command of Burgos and in Palencia, there has been an increase in robberies carried out inside houses, using force, which in the case of Burgos were concentrated practically in the same region, population of located in Merindad de Río Ubierna, while in Palencia they did so in different places near the A-67 and C-615.
The events not only created great distress among the victims, but also a climate of insecurity and fear among the residents, who, given the apparent impunity and speed with which the attackers committed their crimes, feared for their property.
Both units began their respective investigations separately, though they quickly converged on the same point, which allowed them to continue together.
As a result of the investigations carried out, as well as the numerous interviews conducted with the neighbors, as well as the analysis of the study of the information collected in the technical ocular inspections carried out in the places where the crimes were committed, two vehicles related to the events were found, which were identified and located.
Also, two house searches were carried out by order of the court, in two buildings in the same city north of Palencia.
However, the investigation remains open as the group is suspected of having participated in numerous robberies that occurred in the provinces of Palencia and Burgos as well as in other neighboring provinces, so new clarifications in both Commands and other arrests are not excluded.
According to the police, it was an extremely active and well-organized group, with a clear division of functions between its members. They operated at night, travel as tourism; one of the components is always behind the wheel to facilitate escape.
The rest jump over the surrounding fences of the plots where the houses are located and normally enter their interior by breaking or forcefully opening a window.
They carried out the crime quickly, collecting money, jewelry and small but very valuable items, which are easily transported and can later be sold on the black market.
