The European Union Ambassador to Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog, says kosovo can do more to accelerate its path towards EU membership.
Szunyog wrote in a piece published today that Kosovo institutions should implement reforms "that improve the lives of all citizens in Kosovo" and that the country "needs to achieve more" as it "has the potential.".
The government is in a position to take strategic decisions and accelerate reforms: it is the last year before the elections," he wrote.
Citing the normalization of relations with Serbia, the EU ambassador wrote that the European path goes through dialogue and mentioned the importance of establishing the Association without delay.
"What is important to note here is that the European path of Kosovo and Serbia goes through eu facilitated dialogue and normalization of relations between them. Eu member states expect Kosovo and Serbia to implement the Agreement on the path to normalization and annex its implementation, without delay or precondesced. This includes the establishment of the Association of Serb Majority Municipalities," Szunyog wrote.
He wrote that "Kosovo has the chance to get closer to the EU sooner than one might think."
