The Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has filed an indictment against the MoJ, in the case related to the murder of the Serbian politician from Kosovo, Oliver Ivanović.

MM, a member of the Serbian community, was arrested by the Kosovo Police on October 19, 2022, under suspicion that he was a member of "an organized criminal group" linked to the murder of Ivanovic.

As announced by the Special Prosecutor's Office, the indictment against MM has been filed as he is suspected of having committed the criminal offenses: "Participation or organization of an organized criminal group", "Obstructing evidence or official procedure", "Intimidation" and "Forgery of documents" ".

"The case is about the murder of the now deceased Oliver Ivanović, where the defendant, as part of the group, took actions after the murder, obstructing the criminal procedure and after the investigation, he used forged documents and threatened people officials, who have developed criminal proceedings against him", it was said in the announcement of the Prosecutor's Office.

Ivanovic was killed on January 16, 2018, with six shots in the back, in front of his party's building in North Mitrovica. More than five years after the murder, the case is still unsolved.

For the case of Ivanović, the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has filed three other indictments.

The indictments mention only individuals who, as it is said, "knowingly and intentionally helped the criminal group to commit the criminal offense of murdering Oliver Ivanović". The author of the murder or the person who ordered it is not known.

Accusations were brought against police officers Nedeljko Spasojevic, Radeta Basara, Zharko Jovanovic, as well as Oliver Ivanovic's secretary, Silvana Arsovic, and Marko Rošić, a resident of North Mitrovica.

Investigations into the murder of Ivanovic are also carried out by the Special Prosecutor's Office of Serbia, but the case in Serbia is still at the stage of preliminary investigations.

The Ministry of Justice of Kosovo and Serbia do not cooperate, while the procedures in Kosovo require the mediation of the mission of the European Union in Kosovo for the Rule of Law (EULEX) for obtaining witness statements.
