The Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, through a status on Facebook, supported the decision of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, to dissolve the Parliament after the political parties failed to reach a consensus on the election of the president.

This paved the way for new parliamentary elections in Kosovo, and according to Abdixhiku, this decree was expected to happen.

" I support and welcome, as expected, the decree and position of the President of the Republic Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, on the dissolution of the Assembly. LDK appreciates the responsibility and constitutional clarity shown in this decision by her, in defense of the constitutional order and the normal functioning of the institutions of the Republic.

"Political failure, along with dangerous tendencies of imposition and improvisation, cannot produce either artificial political debates or procedural delays that would transform our Republic into a country without norms and rules ," said Abdixhiku.

"In this spirit, we are ready to participate in consultations on setting the election date and to address the citizens for a new democratic solution. Elections were never the LDK's preferred alternative. On the contrary, they were completely unnecessary and easily avoidable."

Unfortunately, the appetites for one-party capture of all state positions prevented any eventual compromise. Now the decision belongs to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. In a democracy, the last word always belongs to the sovereign."
