Strong earthquake shakes Iran, epicenter near Tehran

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Iran on the evening of June 20 near the city of Semnan.

According to reports from various seismic agencies, the earthquake struck near Tehran, in the north-central part of the Islamic Republic.

According to preliminary reports, damage is minimal and mainly to buildings that are old or have been previously damaged.

The tremors were recorded with an epicenter at a depth of 10 kilometers.
