A Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Kalamata in Greece turned into a harrowing journey for passengers after the Boeing 737 hit a barrier on the airport runway during landing.

The accident involved a Boeing 737 flying from London Stansted to Kalamata airport in southern Greece on Thursday. Fortunately, no one on board was injured, but there was a lot of fear among passengers on flight FR6080.

As several witnesses told The Sun newspaper, due to the collision no one was allowed to get off the plane, but this caused fear and tension on board because many feared that a fire could break out that would have trapped everyone. Fortunately, in the end everything ended in the best possible way, but the fear was great.

The plane had taken off normally on Wednesday morning from London airport, but had encountered severe turbulence during the journey and many therefore feared a hard landing, but no one expected a crash.

The company has also reacted to the incident, explaining that the passengers disembarked unharmed, while the aircraft underwent inspections and returned to service.

"This flight from London Stansted to Kalamata (18 June) was coming to a stop when the wingtip came into contact with a fence at Kalamata Airport. The aircraft then continued to stand and passengers disembarked normally. The aircraft then underwent the required inspections and maintenance before returning to service," Ryanair said.
