The Vlora Airport concessionaire is flattening the mountain in the village of Mifol, where the local government is only rubbing its eyes, failing to stop this environmental massacre that is only increasing day by day.

Without any relevant permission from central, local or even environmental institutions, the 2A Group firm, owned by Valon Ademi, has sent heavy equipment to Mifol to pick up and deliver it to the salt field, where the airport is being built.

Despite the fact that on one hand the two firms, which also constitute the VIA concessionaire, are fighting over the shares, with blockades and decisions, on the ground they are wreaking havoc, without asking about laws or permits.

But, the scandal deepens further because the local government, the one that directly affects the residents, such as the Novoselë Administrative Unit, or even the Vlora Municipality, have not reacted, despite being notified dozens of times by the residents.

Does the Municipality of Vlora not have the capacity to send inspectors to the area? From those of the Inspectorate of Territorial Protection, who impose fines whenever the residents of Mifoli, but not only, build huts, sheds or huts. But if they do not do this, where is the Municipal Police? Has the central IKMT been notified? It seems that the order came from above, since no institution operates in that area, given that clans within the majority themselves have personal or family interests with one or another firm.

These institutions should do the simplest thing, knock on the door of the local government to see if any site has been approved to take the soil. Or have the concessionaires acted treacherously, not having any permits, but meanwhile eroding whatever they can. Has the concessionaire made a direct connection with the Administrator of Novosela, Kanan Shakaj?

Administrator Shakaj seems to have made Novosela his "property". He has been mayor of the Municipality of Novosela for several terms. After 2015, when the territorial reform was also carried out, Kanani was appointed Administrator, again holding the keys to that building in Novosela for more than 20 years. Are there no young men and women with integrity in the entire area to run the Administrative Unit?

One of the most flagrant cases of abuse of office is precisely the case that VoxNews is denouncing, where Kanani did not even act to stop this massacre. Didn't Kanani or his party friends see the heavy vehicles in the village of Mifol? If not, or is he "hiding", here are the trucks, where residents have told VoxNews that in a day they fill up from 50 to 100 of them, to then go to the Airport area.

Residents of the village of Mifol, in the Novoselë Administrative Unit, have denounced the entire environmental massacre in VoxNews, with photos, videos and even documents. "Dozens of trucks, which work on the construction site of the Vlora Airport, are also taking from the hills of the village of Mifol to fill the territory of the airport. Scrappers and dump trucks work day and night, destroying the lands of the residents of Mifol, without any transparency and without any publicly approved plan," the residents claim.

Residents said that there is also a decision of the Novoselë Municipal Council, from 2014, which defines that area as a cemetery. "Not a single line of that decision foresees that the territory will be used for the extraction of soil or inert materials. However, today none of the responsible institutions is responsible for this massacre that is being committed in this village. There is no document that determines how many cubic meters will be taken, how long this intervention will last, and, above all, what Mifoli will gain in return," the residents claim.

They further say that this is not the first time that Mifoli has fallen prey to this phenomenon. "Previously, soil was also taken to fill private silos and lands, where a bargain was made at the expense of the residents of the area, without any documents, without a report and without any official notification from the police, municipality or prefecture. Another case where major development is done on the backs of small villages, while institutional silence speaks louder than any justification," they conclude.
