A vehicle clearly identified as part of the Bundespolizei ( German Federal Police ) was spotted today on "Free Ukraine" Street in Tirana.
The presence of a foreign police vehicle, with German license plates and official police markings, has sparked reactions and questions from passersby who have sent photos to the Vox News editorial office .
According to international police cooperation practice, foreign officers do not have independent executive powers in Albania.
Any operational action, including arrests, can only be carried out by Albanian authorities, while foreign officers participate as observers, advisors or within the framework of joint operations, based on bilateral agreements or EU programs.
The Bundespolizei is the Federal Police of Germany and is not the same as the state police (Landespolizei).
It operates under the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and has specific powers, mainly outside the ordinary urban order.
The main tasks of the Bundespolizei include:
• The security of German state borders
• Control of illegal immigration and human trafficking
• Security of airports, railways and critical infrastructure
• The fight against cross-border crime and international criminal networks
• Participation in international missions and cooperation with partner police forces
In practice, the presence of the Bundespolizei may be related to the exchange of intelligence information or support in investigations that have direct links to German territory.
It is not known what investigation this German Police vehicle is involved in, but sources for Vox News claim that in recent months the presence of foreign services in the territory of the Republic of Albania has increased.
