Adolf Hitler was addicted to cocaine and led the invasion of Russia while high, historian Giles Milton reveals in his book.
Milton talks about Hitler's addiction to 80 different types of drugs. Milton's collection of new works tells interesting true stories about adventures, murders and espionage - from those who killed Rasputin, to the great mystery of Agatha Christie.
Below you will read the excerpt from "When Hitler took cocaine".
"Injections started early after breakfast. As soon as he finished his meal, Adolf Hitler called his personal physician, Theodor Morell.
The doctor lifted up his shirt sleeve to inject him with a mixture of drugs, most of which are now considered dangerous and illegal.
Every day, for more than 9 years, Dr. Morell injected several types of drugs, in such large quantities that he became known as the Injection Doctor. Some people close to Hitler feared that he would seek to kill the Führer with such injections.
But Theodor Morell was very devoted to Hitler and did not even think of killing him. He was a healthy doctor who first met the Führer during a party at the Berghof. Hitler had long suffered from health problems, including stomach pains, diarrhea, and many other ailments.
His condition was aggravated by unusual food diets. He gave up meat in 1931. From that year onwards, he ate only vegetables and greens. Dr Morell saw the Führer eat such a meal and then studied the consequences. But seeing the problems that Hitler had, he assured him that there were some medicines that could work miracles and could cure him of all problems.
He first gave some tablets to the Fuhrer. Hitler would take 16 of these a day, but at first he was unaware that they contained large amounts of strychnine, which, while temporarily relieving, made him lose focus.
Morell then found another drug that would stabilize the Führer with his intestinal problems. Indeed, Hitler was so pleased with his doctor's work that he invited him to join the inner circle of the Nazi elite. From that moment Dr. Morell was always by his side.
Hitler also suffered from stomach pains, but after the medicine that his doctor injected him, within a few minutes, he managed to get out of his bed full of energy.
Dr. Ernst-Gunther Schensck began to have doubts about the miracle cures of dr. Morell and managed to get one of the tablets. When they were tested in the lab, they were found to be amphetamine.
But as long as these drugs worked, nothing else mattered to Hitler. Became so addicted to dr's medicine. Morell eventually left all of his health problems in the hands of his doctor, with devastating long-term consequences. He led the invasion of Soviet Russia while taking more than 80 different types of drugs, including testosterone, tranquilizers, opium, etc. According to the doctor's notes, he also injected her with morphine.
As the war drew to a close, Hitler was not in good health. Addicted to the medication, his arms were covered in puncture marks from the injections Dr. Morell gave him. Eva Braun accused the latter, saying that he was just an "injection quack". He had turned Hitler into a drug addict. But on the other hand, the doctor stayed close to his Fuhrer until the last moment, in his bunker in Berlin.
Morell was captured by the Americans soon after the fall of the Third Reich and interrogated for more than two years.
Morell was never charged with war crimes and died of a heart attack in 1948, shortly after his release from prison. He left behind some medical notes that revealed his favorite patient's drug addiction. / Vox News
