A few hours after an intimate video made the rounds on social networks, Safet Gjici resigned as mayor of Kukës Municipality. In the video, Safet Gjici appeared in his office in the Municipality of Kukës having sexual intercourse with a woman.

In his reaction, Gjici says that he has had an intimate relationship with the girl who appears in the video for a long time, while he emphasizes that the recording and distribution of the images are part of a trap by political opponents.

"Deep public sympathy to anyone who saw that ugly video material today. After a difficult campaign and confrontation with my opponents, after which I emerged victorious, unfortunately I fell prey to a trap prepared in detail by the same hand of people I faced in the election. Here they managed to do in another dirty form what they could not do with the vote of the Kuksians. For some time now I have had an intimate relationship with the girl in question, but of course I have no excuse for what happened despite being trapped" , Gjici writes on his Facebook page.

Gjici, who is married and the father of four children, has apologized to everyone, but not to his family. In no line of the reaction, Gjici has no words of apology for the family, while some time ago he also became a grandfather.

"Condolences to everyone and lifelong gratitude to everyone who trusted and supported me. It was the honor of my life that was tarnished by an unforgivable frivolity, so today I feel the minimum obligation to resign" , Gjici concludes his reaction on his official Facebook page, while he has also blocked the comments of his followers.

Even the Government has dismissed the mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici, after the publication of the intimate video. Minister Delina Ibrahimaj gave the news after the government meeting.

"The Council of Ministers made a decision for the immediate dismissal of the head of the municipality of Kukes, Safet Gjici", said Ibrahimaj.

Meanwhile, SPAK has registered a criminal investigation for Gjici. The video scandal was recorded on June 6.
