Edi Rama and Yuri Kim

Prime Minister Edi Rama declared three weeks ago on the show "Opinion" that on July 4, the day of his birth, he expects a gift from the United States of America.

Asked why he did not travel to the USA, Rama stated:

"Why should I go to the USA for tourism? Still with McGonigal? Come on Fevzi, do you remember when they thought McGonigal came out and brought down the government?

I expect to have a very special gift from the USA for my birthday, on July 4, and I will invite Berat (Buzhala) with great pleasure to share that gift with me, because he will be very happy when he shares it," Rama said . but without giving other details why it is.

But is Dako's arrest a counter-gift from Edi Rama to Washington?

In 2019, Dako became the third person from Albania to be banned from entering the United States by the US State Department, for him and his family after he was deemed to be involved in major corruption.

Despite this, Prime Minister Edi Rama did not take any public steps to distance himself from him. A few months after the State Department's decision, in the "Opinion" show, he declared that Dako would always remain his friend.

"Vangjush Dako has been, is and will be my friend. The State Department does not determine who my friend is. It is determined by my morals and conviction. Even if he goes to prison tomorrow, he will be my friend.

But with Vangjush Dako, I have never done, nor have I been asked nor have I asked, nor have we cooperated nor have we sought the cooperation of others, any violation of the laws of the Republic of Albania", Prime Minister Rama declared at that time .
