Albanian immigrants will not benefit from the baby bonus, which the government gives for every child born, if they do not have residence in Albania.

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has proposed changes to the law on social assistance, which intervenes in two articles.

In the first point of the ninth article of the current law, it is stated that the immediate beneficiaries of financial assistance are the child's parent or parents. This article is proposed to be changed, adding as a criterion that these parents live in Albania.

In Article 11, it is proposed to change letter a. Currently, the article states that Albanian citizens living abroad as immigrants do not benefit from the bonus, with the exception of the beneficiaries according to point 1 of article 9, which in this case means the parents of children born abroad.

The Ministry of Health proposes that the article be changed and all Albanian citizens who are not residents of the Republic of Albania be excluded from the bonus.

The baby bonus is 40,000 ALL for the first child, 80,000 ALL for the second child and 120,000 ALL for the third child or more.
