How "river oil" was sold to the public a few months ago in Shpirag, from Rama and Balluku

Prime Minister Edi Rama would appear at an extraordinary media conference, more than once, to give the "big news" of the discovery in Albania of a giant oil reserve, of the best quality.

Although seven months ago Rama said that the final tests of the SHELL company should be awaited, his statements could not help but stimulate a river of propaganda about how the oil in Shpirag would turn Albania into a mini-Dubai.

Evening TV shows rushed to call hydrocarbon experts to their panels, even those forgotten for years who had once served with their experience and knowledge in factories and wells drilled during the communist period.

But even the "spokesmen" of the government, so diligently through the media channels, started to tell the Albanians how they would fill their cars "full", at almost ridiculous prices with the best quality oil, while the money coming from the oil of Shpirag would be filled and poured from the state coffers.

A precious relic was waving and flashing before the wrinkled eyes of the Albanians, as the prime minister prayed that "with God's help", the piercing test would be positive.

But 7 months later, as Shell issued its latest report showing the failure to find oil in Shpirag, it seems that the beautiful dream turned out to be a disappointment. God also seems not to have answered the prayers of the Albanian Prime Minister.

But the citizens, apart from some minor disappointment, did not lose anything. They were convinced that with oil, as without oil, nothing would change in their daily lives.
