PROFILE/ Who was the former mayor of Elbasan, Qazim Sejdini, known as "LALA"!

Qazim Sejdini , the socialist mayor who led Elbasan for three terms in a row, has passed away at the age of 73.

 He was suffering from a serious illness, the battle with which he could not win and closed his eyes forever.

After three terms at the head of the Municipality of Elbasan, the name of Qazim Sejdini was no longer placed on the voting list for the local elections of June 30, 2019.

The Socialist Party decided to replace the controversial mayor with the district prefect of Elbasan, Gledian Llatja.

Qazim Sejdini became one of the most popular figures of Elbasan, after leading the municipality for 12 years from 2007 to 2019, marking his path with the start of an important transformation that was followed by the new mayor.

He started his political career from the post of prefect in 2002. Previously, Qazim Sejdini was President of the Association of Customs Officers of Albania and president of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Albania.

The serious illness from which he suffered removed him from public duties and the residents of Elbasan, whom he served with devotion for more than a decade.

For a long time, Sejdini had not even appeared at the meetings of the Socialist Party. One remembers a greeting that Prime Minister Edi Rama sent him from a rally in the city center, two years ago.

 "I want to say hello to someone I don't see here among us for the first time. I wish it to be as good as possible and we have it as soon as possible in our meetings", said Prime Minister Edi Rama at that time, showing gratitude for one of the most important people of the Socialist Party in Elbasan, but also a collaborator in several election campaigns.

Despite the courage and great courage, unfortunately today the family has announced the death of Qazim Sejdini.

He was able to build a political career like no other, over mountains of political and sometimes media accusations, influenced by certain interests.

Qazim Sejdini was appreciated even while he was alive for the charm and the name he gave to the city, aligning it with the best of Albania.

For the vision and coherence he showed while running the Municipality of Elbasan, Qazim Sejdin was also called "Lala".

He never made party differences while running the city, working together, with the left and the right, in the service of the people of Elbasanli.
