During an activity organized by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation, the head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, Altin Dumani, raised, among other things, the concern that state institutions had a 40 percent decrease in anti-corruption denunciations, even though denunciation is mandatory through the whistleblower law .

Dumani referred to only two institutions, which, although in the reports and local and foreign surveys, are evaluated with a high level of corruption, SPAK had not signaled during 2023 any suspected corrupt practices. They were the Directorate of Taxes and that of Customs.

"Taxes zero reports, customs zero. Is there corruption there or not?!", said Dumani.

Taxes have been accused during their management by Ceno Klosi, who recently resigned to be appointed Balluk's deputy in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, for corrupt practices, selective implementation of legislation, nepotistic appointments in the administration and other files.

For corrupt practices, nepotistic appointments, and even for the appointment of convicted persons, Gent Gazheli, the general director of Customs, who was appointed to this post in 2020 to restore legality to an institution that has been accused of turning a blind eye, has also been accused. against the smuggling of excise goods.

Based on Altin Duman's statement, should Gent Gazheli also follow the path of Ceno Klos? Should he leave customs? Should Prime Minister Edi Rama dismiss him for failure in the fight against corruption?

Because, if no report of corruption is sent to SPAK from an institution such as customs, there are two possibilities, either Gent Gazheli has brought corruption to zero in this institution, or he himself is immersed head-to-toe in corrupt affairs and has no how to denounce these affairs himself.
