Fatos Tarifa has published a letter. It is an honest, courageous and necessary letter.

Its strongest point is the attack on the alibi "republic of prosecutors." In Albania, in reality, the danger is not a strong prosecution, but untouchable politics.

Although strong in message, the letter has its limits.

The author speaks to the majority from "inside the house". He speaks as a socialist. This makes the letter more politically serious. It is not an opposition attack, but a call to the conscience of the majority deputies.

Here lies its limitation. It assumes that MPs have freedom of vote. They don't. They are not moved by moral principles. The entire system currently does not operate properly, but as it suits them.

The letter underestimates this fact.

However, the letter does not claim to be (and cannot be) an instrument of influence. Even though it does not change the vote, it remains a deed of evidence, a public document. Tomorrow it will be used to judge not Balluk, but the conduct of the Assembly.

The latter is very important.

The bottom line is this: SPAK has requested the lifting of immunity. It means that there is a criminal suspicion. The Assembly does not judge guilt. It is not a Court. The Assembly only judges whether it will allow the Justice Department to do its job.

Everything else is smoke.

Should immunity be lifted? Absolutely YES. No political debate. No theater. Why? Because no one can be above the investigation, especially a deputy prime minister.

If Balluku is innocent, the investigation is her best chance to prove it. If the Assembly blocks it, it publicly admits that power protects power, not the law.

Likewise, the Prime Minister. As the Tariff letter says, it is naive to believe that Balluku is irreplaceable. The Prime Minister has shown that he can dismiss and appoint anyone with the flick of a finger. Suddenly, an insurmountable individual emerged.

If today we hear MPs talking about other Canadas that were left without planes, about government stability, etc., the message is clear. Justice is only independent when it investigates others.

The Prime Minister is jeopardizing not only the legitimacy of the entire "we support justice" narrative.

The opposition is not risking anything. It has chosen chaos, not argument. It will shout, but it will not decide anything. The decision is up to the majority.

As for SPAK, it will be in a limited situation, but it is not without options. It does not have the power to violate immunity, but it has other means to preserve the investigation. A “no” vote does not completely stop Justice beyond a period of time.

It will simply make it clearer to the public who is afraid of her./ Gazeta DITA
