Albanian Rahman Parllaku did not know Serbian Petar Mati?, although they had many points in common in life.

Both were born at the same time, the first in 1919, while the other in 1920.

Both were born in royalty, lived in socialism and died in democracy.

Both had been partisans and had fought against the Germans, each in their own country occupied by the same enemy.

Both had been communists and had believed wholeheartedly in the better New World that would be built.

Both continued their military careers even after the war, both completed their studies in the Soviet Union and both became generals, the first of Socialist Albania, the second of Socialist Yugoslavia.

Both received the highest title of their homeland, the first "Hero of the People" in Albania and the second "Hero of the Peoples of Yugoslavia".

At this point their lives have a difference, and a strong one even, Parllaku was sentenced by the Party and spent another 20 years in prison, while Petari continued his career in his own country, although he was also hit by something from his own Party, which, however, never did not reach the extremism of Albanian nonsense.

Then the world changed, our countries became democratic and both heroes continued their lives in deep old age, honored by their people.

Both crossed the threshold of 100 years with a straight stature, remaining each of them the last "People's Hero" still alive.

Then..., the first to surrender was General Parllaku, who left this world in 2019, almost 101 years old.
While General Matiçi, left this world two days ago, on October 4, 2024, almost 104 years old.

With their departure, another connection with the history of the last century was broken, thus ending the time when real heroes did not go through nationalisms and chauvinisms.

When people served their country, even when it was unfair to them. When the belief in the justice of the cause made them forgive even the injustices that were done to them.

Parllaku did not recognize Mati?i when he was alive.

If they had known each other, maybe they would have shook hands, as only true heroes know how to do, who, even if they fight in different trenches, are forgiven for their bravery, remaining good Albanians and good Serbs.

Eh, it is difficult to fill the minds of Albanians on Facebook that there are also good Serbs, just as it is difficult to fill the minds of Serbians on Facebook that there are also good Albanians.

Well, let's not make noise on the networks today, just quietly say "goodbye to the centuries-old heroes of the past"!
