The court of Thessaloniki has given the final decision for the murder of 19-year-old Greek Alkis Kampanos and the wounding of his two friends by a group of PAOK hooligans in February 2022, in the city of Thessaloniki.

5 months after the beginning of the trial of 12 people, 4 of whom are of Albanian origin, who are accused of this sensational murder that shocked the whole country, the court sentenced 7 of them to life imprisonment and additional prison terms. Among the persons sentenced to life imprisonment are also 3 Albanians.

Thus Afskendos Çarçiu, 24 years old, the only Albanian who escaped life imprisonment by being sentenced to 27 years of imprisonment, in the final decision of the Court it was decided that he will serve 20 years in prison.

Aleksandro Gega, Gerald Kambo, 24, and Rogers Demirazi, 21, were sentenced to life imprisonment. In addition to life imprisonment, due to multiple criminal offences, the Court also gave an additional 20 years in prison to Aleksandro Gegë and Gerald Kambo, as well as an additional 18 years in prison to Rogers Demirazi.

It is worth noting that the Court of Thessaloniki has sentenced many years in prison (up to 20 years) to the other five accused for the murder of the young Greek. Upon hearing the sentences, friends and relatives of Alkis Kampanos burst into applause.

At the same time, the defendants were banned for 5 years from attending all PAOK matches in all sports. Appeals will also not have suspensive effect./TCH
