
A 34-year-old man has been arrested after being accused of being an accomplice in the theft of a significant amount of oil from a ship seized in Porto Romano.
Drilon Malluta is accused of stealing contraband oil from a ship in collaboration with Juxhin Koka.
Malluta and Koka gave a 10 thousand euro bribe to the policeman guarding the ship Armand Marvataj and then replaced the oil they extracted from the seized ship with water.
Specialists of the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Operational Support Section, of the Durrës Police Department, following the police operation codenamed "Turni", conducted 10 days ago, in cooperation with the Police Supervision Agency (Durrës-Kavajë Region), have arrested one of the 2 citizens wanted in the framework of this operation:
Drilon Malluta, 34 years old, resident of Durrës, suspected of the criminal offenses "Smuggling of goods subject to excise duty with full or partial suspension of customs duties", "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" and "Theft", committed in collaboration.
This citizen is suspected of having collaborated with citizens AM (arrested during the operation), JK (wanted) and members of the ship's crew, to steal a significant amount of oil from a ship that was anchored in Porto Romano, after it had been seized as material evidence by the Durrës Prosecutor's Office.
Work continues to capture the other citizen wanted as part of the operation.
Additional procedural materials will be referred to the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) for further investigation.
