Prime Minister Edi Rama criticized the management of the Vlora Water Supply Company, calling it appalling. According to him, in 2020, accumulated debts reached 13.6 billion euros.
"The report made by the team on the situation of the administration of the Vlora water supply is frightening. A frightening level of irresponsibility. I brought up the specific case since we are talking about one of the most attractive and busiest points for tourism.
The debts accumulated by these extremely irresponsibly managed enterprises reached 13.6 billion euros in 2020. Spend, waste, shake the chain and burden the energy distribution company with debts.
In 2021, we took the first step by entering the process of merging companies and from 58 companies, 58 companies, we created 15 regional companies.
The goal was to improve performance and increase accountability in administration and today we have significant results, which show us one thing: the answer to this challenge is unity and not fragmentation. People do not drink decentralization in rubies, but water. Today we have 9 regional companies out of 15 that no longer create obligations towards OSHEE. An extraordinary step, without a doubt," said Rama.
