The investigation into the murder of 47-year-old Albanian  Artur Bashimi , a crime that occurred on August 18 in Agios Panteleimonas, has led to the arrest of a young Greek man.

The 27-year-old drug user stated after his arrest that he undertook to execute the Albanian for a sum of 15,000 euros.

The young Greek denied that he knew the person who "ordered" the execution, nor the reasons why he wanted to eliminate the Albanian, however, he added that the order to eliminate him was given from within the prisons.

Meanwhile, another 27-year-old Greek man has been arrested, but his role in the crime is still unknown.

The order for the execution was reportedly given from inside the prison by the head of an Albanian mafia.

According to Greek media, the murder was a message to the victim's brother, who lives in Larisa and is involved in criminal networks. 

The crime occurred at 9:25 p.m. on the evening of August 18 at the intersection of Michael Voda and Rodou streets in Athens.

At that time, the perpetrator, who was riding a motorcycle, approached and shot the victim. During the autopsy conducted at the scene, a firearm cartridge and a shell casing were found, while during the autopsy of the body, “hemothorax, injuries to the chest from a firearm bullet” were discovered.
