Following complaints from citizens that on several beaches along the coastline of the Municipality of Lezha the price of sun loungers has increased above the approved rates, Mayor Pjerin Ndreu has also reacted.

After the complaints, Ndreu said that he has sent Municipal Police teams to the field, which have carried out checks on the coastline, finding several cases of violations.

In a video published by the mayor, a Municipality employee is seen ordering an employee of an entity to return to vacationers the portion of the money received above the reference price determined by the Municipality.

We remind you that, at the start of the tourist season, the Municipality of Lezha set reference prices for the sunbed service. The rates start from 300 lek in Tale, 400 lek in Kune and range up to 2,000 lek, depending on the area and service. While for public beaches, the Municipality has set a maximum rate of 700 lek.

Also, earlier, Ndreu announced that, after receiving the complaints, municipal officials intervened immediately and addressed the specific issues.

Ndreu's post:

Some reflections on the complaints received about the prices of sun loungers

After publishing the phone numbers, we have been faced with a large influx of complaints. It is evident that in some cases beach stations, especially those of hotels, have exceeded the limit. For each case reported, we are intervening and addressing the specific problems.

However, it is necessary to clarify some issues:

* On the beaches of Lezha, about 66% of the coastline is public, where citizens can frequent the beach free of charge or with minimal fees, as these spaces are administered by Lezha Invest.

* Hotel beaches are intended primarily for their clientele. In cases where citizens choose to frequent these facilities, they should be informed in advance if there are vacancies. Vacationers who choose to stay on beaches administered by hotels cannot complain about the conditions or prices, if they have been informed in advance and have accepted them.

* It is not possible to claim that 4–6 people can be accommodated under one umbrella with two sun loungers by paying the standard rates. Capacities are limited and the beach administrator has the right to refuse situations that create overload and violate the terms of service.

* Public parking capacities are limited and a parking space cannot be guaranteed for every citizen or vacationer. For this reason, private parking lots must also be used. The Municipality does not set the prices of private parking lots and has no authority over them, except for monitoring the prices of sun loungers.

* Precisely because of the complaints and deviations observed, the initiative to publish phone numbers has been taken. Invoices from a few days ago or opinions on past cases do not help in solving current problems. We request that complaints be made on the day the case occurs, so that the intervention is immediate and effective.

We continue to be available to citizens. Just today, at several beach resorts, customers have had their payments refunded after filing complaints.

We invite every citizen to report any violations in real time, in order to guarantee compliance with the rules and the protection of the public interest.
