A 48-year-old man who was declared an international wanted person has been arrested in Tirana with the aim of extradition to Italy, where he has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for the criminal offense of exploitation of prostitution.

According to the State Police, Bekim Nikolli , 48 years old, a resident of Tirana, was arrested in the area of ??the Agricultural Institute.

He was declared an international fugitive after the Naples Court of Appeal sentenced him in November 2021 to 13 years in prison.

According to Italian authorities, Nikolli, in collaboration with other individuals, is suspected of exploiting women illegally brought into Italy for prostitution.

Investigations show that he also used violence against his victims, with the aim of keeping them under control and maximizing their exploitation.

"This citizen was declared internationally wanted, after the Court of Appeal of Naples, Italy, in November 2021, sentenced him to 13 years in prison for the criminal offenses of "Exploitation of prostitution" and "Enslavement/Submission", provided for by Italian criminal legislation," the police announced.

Interpol Tirana is continuing the procedures for the extradition of the 48-year-old to Italy, where he will serve the sentence imposed by the Italian judicial authorities.
