"Now we are more prepared than ever" - Rama announces that Albania has received its first firefighting aircraft

Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced on social media the start of work by the country's first firefighting aircraft. This new force joins operations to cope with the fire situation during the month of August.

Through a shared video, the head of government stressed that Albania is more prepared than ever, although it remains aware of the risk of the fires escalating.

"The first firefighting aircraft has begun its activity as an added force of this challenging August, which finds us stronger and more prepared than ever before, but also fully aware, of the risk of extreme escalation of fires beyond our powers, as is currently happening in several large European countries. Respect and gratitude to all our forces on the ground," Rama wrote.

We recall that on July 27, the head of government, in a meeting with firefighters and structures engaged in fighting the flames, at the Farka Air Base, said that our country will receive 3 firefighting aircraft within this year.

"We have closed the procedure for 3 aircraft that will continue at the end of the year and will be owned by our state, but we have an agreed process so that in a moment of special need we also have aircraft available that come from that base where the new aircraft are being prepared and will be ready," said Rama.
