Big scheme of corruption in RTSH, the file with several officials goes to SPAK,
Martin Leka, Leka Bungo, Chairman of the Steering Council of RTSH and former deputy director of RTSH

An investigative file in the Special Prosecutor's Office, SPAK, is expected to reveal serious abuses in large numbers, which will shock the public broadcasting giant, RTSH.

Investigative sources confirmed for DITA that important names of this institution, at the management level for years, are the subject of the investigation in question, which according to the source "is the biggest and heaviest for this institution in the last 30 years".

"The figures in question are shocking and the ease with which RTSH has been used as a private business is of an unprecedented institutional level," the source in question, aware of the investigations, told Dita.

Details of the file and some of the names involved in the investigation are expected to be made public very soon, while the institution is expected to be subjected to a wave of consecutive checks in the following days in the context of this investigation.

The investigation started after a denunciation, but even the prosecutors themselves did not expect what was discovered after the first verifications. Evidence documentation and intercepted conversations have revealed extraordinary thefts involving broadcast rights, program purchases, so-called "Vip" trips of department heads, relationships with third parties, etc.

Other names appearing in the investigation file are still on duty, or have provided medical reports not to appear, while the scandal has disturbed the many offices of the institution with over 1,000 employees.
It is learned that attempts to destroy documentation as part of the investigation have also been identified, for this reason a quick intervention of SPAK investigators is expected.

The source in question did not rule out arrests.

DITA warned in a previous edition of a wave of investigations into Albanian Radio and Television. The leak of part of the investigative information caused concern among some of the institution's functionaries, who have left their functions in recent weeks.

The concern appeared in its public form after several articles on various portals.

It is learned that after the wave of reactions on the portals, the same former official of the institution appears who turns out to be behind the efforts to stop the investigation.

It is about the deputy director of RTSH, Martin Leka. In the periods between the two directors, he was a commanding director, twice until the election of the next director. He exercised this function between Petri Beci and Thoma Gëllçi as well as between Gëllçi and Enkel Joti. It is learned that Leka has also tried to be a candidate in an attempt to challenge the current leader Alfred Peza.

An old employee within RTSH told DITA newspaper that Mr. Leka "is already placed in charge of the fugitives and those at the door of SPAK and not by chance, as he was the guarantor of their deeds with his firm".

He defined the former deputy director "as one of those who have held RTSH hostage for 33 years, and one of its main destroyers".

Leka's name is expected to emerge from the formalization of the investigations that will be announced within a few hours by SPAK.

Meanwhile, a kind of expectation has been created inside the institution if this official and the other "untouchables" (as they call them in RTSH) will really be hit this time.

"This has never won a race in his life, he has replaced the directors, he has waited and escorted these next general directors, being their permanent commanding deputy. As I said, he has always been at the top with a snail's pace, this story has been going on for 20 years" - the same source from RTSH said skeptically and added: "You have
seen the cars of the bosses here, from 100 thousand euros cars with these salaries, can you imagine ? Things with corruption have moved, SPAK's strikes have scared them, but they dream of it coming back again; to return the lost paradise; to repeat the history backwards.

I only wish that the change is real this time, that he does not continue to hold the radio and television of the Albanian public hostage together with his collaborators. Here we can't talk openly, we can't even come up with names, but we all hope to see these people before justice one by one as corrupt".

DITA will continue to follow the situation in RTSH. This is probably the biggest corruption scheme in the history of the Albanian media. Discovered in the first week of July within the RTSH, it seems to have spread like the metastases of a cancer in the unit, directorate and sector. The first file, which is expected to be revealed in full today, will be followed in a few days by a second, even more shocking one.

The investigative source defined it as "a scheme with dimensions that go beyond the borders of Albania, as a premeditated and purposeful occult cooperation, to make RTSH's clients benefit from their inaction in addition to the contracts, even several million other euros".

The show must go on!
