The Committee of Experts has gathered today regarding the situation of Covid-19 in recent days where there has been a significant increase in new cases.

Tomini: For two weeks there has been an increasing trend of confirmed positive cases. This trend is being reflected with the increase in the percentage of positivity and hospitalization of patients.

It has increased from almost the previous 4-5 months.

As far as the municipalities are concerned, we have active cases in 90% and currently the Albanian population must be vaccinated with the 3rd and 4th dose. COVID has shown that it does not have a seasonality and is present during all months of the year.

Rakacolli: The committee has closely followed the development of epidemiological situations in the country. After a stabilized period of the spread of the infection, for several weeks an increase in the number of infected people, as well as the sick and the loss of life, has begun.

The growth trend was also noticed last week, where the number of infections increased significantly, where there was also loss of life. This happened from the circulation of the Omicron variant.

Silva Bino: Regardless of the number of variants, from a study, it is clearly noted that the impact of vaccination is extremely large.

It is an emergency to carry out the third dose to protect the severe forms of the disease. All those who have not completed the first dose must understand that they become a risk for vaccinated persons.

Today, the BA5 variant is in circulation, for which we have no clear data regarding the forms that this variant causes, or the deaths it causes. We also have little data on the transmissibility of this variant. So far it has similar transmissibility to the BA2 variant.

Citizens should take the third dose as well, not deal with "I didn't pass" discussions. Any person who has passed one month from the passing of the infection should take the third dose. There is no debate about this.
