During the official visit to the United States of America, the Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi, together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, participated in the official ceremony on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the State Partnership Program between the Republic of Albania and the New Jersey National Guard.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking authorities, including Mrs. Mikie Sherrill, Governor of the State of New Jersey, U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Yvonne L. Mays, also the Adjutant General of the State of New Jersey and Commissioner for Military Affairs, as well as other military and civilian representatives.
During the 25 years of this close partnership, the New Jersey National Guard has made a valuable contribution to the modernization and development of the Armed Forces of Albania, providing continuous support in strengthening military capabilities.
In his speech at the ceremony, Nufi emphasized that Albania is proud of its strategic relationship with the United States of America, a special alliance that has been and remains one of the main pillars of the country's foreign policy.
"No matter how long I speak, I will not be able to fully describe the history of our friendship and cooperation, nor adequately express the gratitude that the men and women in uniform of my country feel towards you. I firmly believe that this friendship and partnership will continue across generations, serving as a model and example for others," said Minister Nufi.
Further, Nufi praised the contribution of the New Jersey National Guard in the process of transformation and modernization of the Armed Forces of Albania in key areas, where the strengthening of Euro-Atlantic security is at the center of cooperation.
"Together we have built sustainable and concrete capacities. We have invested in the development of the Non-Commissioned Officer Corps, which today constitutes one of the strongest pillars of our Armed Forces. We have supported the education and professional development of new generations of officers, we have cooperated in military medicine and civil emergency management, and we have shared valuable experiences in international missions, including Afghanistan", said Minister Nufi.
For 25 years, the New Jersey National Guard and the Armed Forces of Albania have not only conducted joint exercises, but have also witnessed a successful collaboration built on continuous and tireless work, dedication, and shared values.
