The Albanian Parliament meets today at 10:00, in plenary session, in a tense political and social climate, following the violent protests of recent days.
Today's session is the first to take place in the Assembly after the start of the violent protests recorded in recent days.
The focus is expected to be on the situation created in the country, as the third item on the agenda is an urgent interpellation with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ervin Demo, requested by a group of deputies from the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group.
The interpellation is expected to bring back to the center of the parliamentary debate the management of the protests, the actions of the State Police, and the clashes recorded in recent days.
In addition to the interpellation with Minister Demo, the agenda also includes two interpellations with the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, requested by MPs Ermal Pacaj and Tedi Blushi. The latter has also requested an interpellation with the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj.
Several draft laws will also be reviewed in today's session, while the agenda also includes the draft decision to establish the Special Parliamentary Committee for the second phase of the Administrative-Territorial Reform.
Prime Minister Edi Rama is not expected to be part of today's plenary session, as he is in Budva, Montenegro, for an official meeting.
In this situation, attention is expected to focus on the parliamentary debate and especially on the urgent interpellation with the Minister of Interior, at a time when the country is under political tension created after the protests.
The plenary session begins at 10:00 and is expected to be accompanied by strong debates between the majority and the opposition.
