A day after the serious accident at the place called "Qafa e Kosovicës", traffic policeman Klajdi Mustaj recounts the moments when he happened to be near the scene of the incident and came to the aid of the four injured, saving them from a possible tragedy as, after the overturn, the vehicle was in danger of bursting into flames.

It was precisely this humane action and act of bravery that made the 29-year-old the hero of the day. " I can't call myself a hero," he says, "because every police officer is well-trained for such situations and must act with humanity and composure. I remember that I made it possible to get a child out of the vehicle first and in a few seconds I extinguished the fire. Then I got the driver and the other passengers out ," he told the media.

While emphasizing that he has not yet had contact with the families of the injured as their attention is currently focused on their health after the accident, the officer adds: "I didn't even think about my life as I heard the cries for help inside the vehicle."

"I have received many thanks from ordinary citizens, police leaders and even the Prime Minister. I would do the same thing again without thinking twice if I were to find myself in the same situation again," Klajdi further asserts.

"In fact, this is our duty, to save people's lives regardless of any situation, both during and outside of service. I always dreamed of being part of the blue uniforms," says the 29-year-old, who also holds a law degree and is completing his Bachelor's degree.

Klajdi has not spared the appeal for all drivers to be careful in respecting road signs, as a small mistake can have fatal consequences.
