Today, hundreds of residents of Dukagjin rose again in protest to demand the asphalting of the road that connects Shkodra with the local units of Pult, Shosh and Shalë (about 30 villages).
The protest of the residents of Dukagjin also coincided with the 16th anniversary of one of the worst accidents in this area. On March 12, 2007, a van with 13 people headed towards Shkodra went off the road and as a result 10 of them lost their lives.
The protesters described it as the road of death and demand its reconstruction as a necessity since the danger is present there at every moment.
65 victims and hundreds of injured over the years is the balance from accidents on Dukagjini road. Today, residents demand its construction.
The length of the road is 60 km and its construction would be vital for the development of dozens of villages in 3 administrative units. Hundreds of residents signed the petition which will then be addressed to the Albanian government. And in the end, the residents came with the communique, which has several demands.
