This price change comes with the justification that a liter of small milk is bought from farmers for 20-30 lek more.

If until now citizens have bought a kilogram of goat cheese for 870 Lek, after February 15 the same cheese will cost 1,200 Lek per kilogram. While sheep's cheese would cost 24% more. According to agricultural experts, this price increase is abusive.

"For 30 years, the sector has been shrinking and being damaged by negligence. The other side is that these producers of the milk by-product generally find the word together, I say this as an observer and a consumer. There is an agreement between them and this is to the detriment of the consumer," said Zef Gjeta, Agriculture Expert

Dairy products are costing Albanians more and more, this is because livestock stalls are becoming rarer. According to INSTAT figures, there are 500,000 fewer sheep in Albania in the last 5 years alone. This is a consequence of the wrong policies followed by the Ministry of Agriculture.

"In this case, the intervention of the government is certainly required first to see if there is an agreement and to take measures to increase the number of heads. We must necessarily think about long-term plans. We must support the farmer, the shepherd" - said Zef Gjeta, Agriculture Expert

Farmers, unlike the Ministry of Agriculture, think that the appropriate support scheme that will bring about the development of this sector is lek per liter of milk, and the subsidy per head.
