A protest against the arrest of former KLA fighter, Dritan Goxhaj, took place in "Skënderbej" square in Tirana.

One of the protesters said that Goxhaj should not, as he has not committed any kind of crime. According to him, Goxhaj defended the rights of Albanians during that time.

"For all those who have Dritan in their hands, do not extradite him. This is an open persecution for all Albanians who fought against the enemies. To the credit of Dritan Goxhaj, the rights of the Albanian nation must be protected, those that have been violated in the name of democracy. Justice is equal for all. He did not commit any kind of crime, but voluntarily participated in the defense of rights", said one of the protesters.

Dritan Goxhaj was arrested on July 31 by the Tirana Police, on behalf of the Special Court of Kosovo, with offices in The Hague. He is charged with two charges, that of "Intimidation during criminal proceedings" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of his duties".

The protest called by the group "Eagle Wing" demands the release of the former KLA fighter and his non-extradition to The Hague, in the Specialized Chambers.

Goxhaj's lawyer, Bashkim Nikolla, described the arrest of his client as a politically motivated decision, adding that he is innocent.
