The General Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that the judge of the Special Court, Irena Gjoka, has been 'convicted' in Greece and has concealed this fact in her self-declaration form.
The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has asked the High Judicial Council and the High Inspector of Justice to implement the law and declare the end of her status as a magistrate.
The opposition warns that any delay by the authorities causes serious consequences for citizens' trust in the justice system.
Meanwhile, the High Judicial Council has reacted at this moment, stating that the General Prosecutor's Office has not yet sent it any documents regarding the case of Irena Gjoka. The High Judicial Council specifies that as soon as the Prosecutor's Office's letter officially arrives, the relevant legal procedure will be followed.
"Dear colleagues, regarding today's announcement by the General Prosecutor's Office regarding the decision to approve the results of the in-depth verification of the declarations made in the Self-Declaration Form dated 22.04.2016, for the subject Irena Gjoka (Shpata, Maneku), judge at the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime, I would like to inform you that as of 20:30 on 20.01.2026, no official document has been received at the KLGJ's address. As soon as the letter from the General Prosecutor's Office officially arrives, it will be administered by the Career Development Commission at the KLGJ, and then the relevant legal procedure will be followed," the KLGJ announced in a media release.
