The General Directorate of Road Transport is reviewing the German practice of lowering the driving age.
According to this practice, a driver's license can be obtained at the age of 17, but it is a condition that the driver is accompanied by a family member with a correct driving record while driving. It was DPSHTRR itself that shared this information, saying that this possibility is being considered, but there is still no decision.
If this new practice will be put into practice, then the hours of guidance in the Driving School for the trainees will increase. In the meeting with the German officials, DPSHTRR announces that it was also discussed about the fee that is paid for completing the license course.
Meanwhile, an agreement has been signed between the two countries for cooperation in activities to strengthen road safety and education on traffic and road use!
"We welcomed with particular pleasure Mr. Oliver Luksic, Parliamentary Secretary of State and Federal Coordinator for Logistics and Freight Transport in Germany, Mr. Guido Zielke, General Director of Road Traffic and Transport of the German Federal Ministry of Digitalization and Transport, as and Mr. Sebastian Peter, adviser to Mr. Oliver Luksic.
After recognizing the conversion of patents with the German state, we meet again with our colleagues, for the exchange of experiences on the benefit of driving licenses in the respective states, where, among other things, the German side evaluated the work of DPSHTRR for the practices followed and for the innovations of the measures for young drivers, in terms of increasing road safety and the impact on reducing accidents. With special interest, we focused on the topic of the positive German practice to reduce the age of obtaining a driving license to 17 years, provided that a family member with a correct driving record accompanies the vehicle during the event, increasing the hours at the wheel in conditions of safety for drivers young people, as well as on the topic of Driving School fees, where we agreed that the regulation starts with guaranteeing floor costs and protecting the market from speculation and fiscal evasion! We agreed to cooperate on these two aspects in particular!
In addition, we discussed Road Safety Programs, experience on road traffic norms projects, assistance in setting up the Albanian road vehicle Homologation sector and the exchange of vehicle-driving data between the two countries, specific training and specializations for improvements in practices and services, digitization and harmonization. This meeting, to be finalized with the signing of the agreement between the two states for cooperation in activities to strengthen road safety and education on traffic and road use", announces DPSHTRR.
