After almost a month in the hospital, Ilir Beqaj returns to Durres Prison

Former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, has returned to Durrës prison after his stay at the QSUT hospital. Sources at the Prison Directorate confirm that after stabilizing his health condition, a few days ago Beqaj was transferred back to the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, where he is serving the security measure "prison arrest" for the abuse of EU funds in SASPAC.

Beqaj was admitted to the QSUT on July 15 after suffering from a high fever and a severe skin infection and remained in the hospital for 1 month.

Ilir Beqaj has been indicted in the "Sterilization" case on charges of "theft by abuse of office" within a structured criminal group. He will be tried separately from his co-defendants, in a regular trial at the Special Court, by a panel headed by Judge Rudina Palloj.

Meanwhile, the preliminary examination of the "SASPAC" file, where Beqaj is also a defendant, continues in the same court.
