The Fiks Fare show brought today an exclusive interview, a strong human and emotional story, of Xhetan Ndregjoni, Eva Dumani's uncle.
He told Fiks Fare today about the 12-year battle to save his granddaughter from the infamous Al Hol camp in Syria. Xhetan Ndregjoni shared shocking details about how his granddaughter managed to escape the so-called "hell camp", as well as the great pain of losing his grandmother, who had gone there to save her grandson and granddaughter, but passed away in difficult conditions.
Through tears, he recounts the challenges he faced with his niece in the Turkish state, the difficult efforts to return to Albania, as well as the moments of anxiety and uncertainty.
In this interview, Ndregjoni also revealed the dangerous ways of communicating with Eva, who hid her phone underground while she was in the camp, to stay in touch with her family.
She was seeking help to return to her homeland, while surviving in difficult conditions, with only rice and oil.
"More than two years ago, Eva told me she had rice and oil and enough for a month, when I called her to ask if she had money and if I should send it," says Ndregjoni.
And that this was the moment he decided to return Eva to Albania at all costs.
"I went to Turkey many times to enter Syria and get Eva, but I couldn't, I came back very upset, but I didn't give up," Xhetani says through tears.
In total, at 12 border crossing points between Turkey and Syria, she tried to cross, but all efforts were unsuccessful. However, nothing stopped the uncle from bringing his niece home. Even the connections found inside the camp to provide her with money. These were through people who were inside the camp and of course against a percentage, but what was important to Ndregjoni was that his niece had money to afford her living.
He shares a very touching moment of his granddaughter, who had kept the rings and a comb of her grandmother who passed away in the camp after she had gone to pick up her grandson and granddaughter.
"In Turkey we were afraid they might put us in prison, and there Eva told me to keep my grandmother's rings and a comb," says Eva's uncle. Meanwhile, he thanks the people who helped his niece come to Albania, Sinan Idrizi and Mero Bazen.
"Baze has been by my side since the first days after his father took him to Syria. He made numerous attempts with the minister at the time, but we didn't succeed," says Ndregjoni.
"And now that we had to return her, I called Meron and he connected me with Sinan Idrizi, who I can't find the words to thank!", concludes the interview for Fiks Fare, Eva's uncle, who kept his mother's promise to bring her daughter to him at all costs!
