The parish priest of the Catholic Church in Shkodra, Dom Vlash Palaj, harshly attacked Albanian politicians, considering them the most ignorant and lowest stratum of the Albanian people.

In front of the faithful, he did not spare ironies about the deputies and officials who have ended up in prison.

"Look at these politicians of ours. With this situation that has been created, they do nothing but show off, and I feel sorry for them, because they seem to me to be the most ignorant and lowest stratum of the Albanian people."

The problem is not what they collect, but rather they highlight the poverty of their soul. That inner misery. People who live only to have something and distort their nature by ending up in prison.

How did you get it, you in prison? We voted for you to do us good. We have no problem, do good for yourself too, but don't abuse it to the point of taking our necks. To the point of taking away our livelihood, especially those who fight fiercely every day just for their daily bread.

There it is unforgivable. Sin leads to death, therefore the sin of corruption leads to prison. It leads to prison! Christ says, sooner or later, everything will come to light. They thirst for power, the poor, therefore they deviate. How could one not say: 'I thirst to serve'?" said Dom Vlash Palaj.

Parish priest Palaj also spoke about the difficult times during the communist regime, while expressing regret that even today there are people who love that system, describing it as a temptation of the devil that has brainwashed a part of the Albanian people.

Palaj delivered these sermons during this time of Lent, which for Christians heralds the arrival of Easter and serves, among other things, as a moment of reflection and repentance.
