The flight of doctors has damaged our health system by creating gaps in health centers not only in districts, but also in hospitals in Tirana. The doctor's order confirms that for 2022, 180 doctors have requested the certificate of good conduct.
Although according to its head Fatmir Brahimaj, not everyone leaves once and for all.

"That certificate is required every time a doctor has to go to a foreign clinic, to attend it, to do a qualification, to do a study as a co-author. To defend a doctorate in another country and so on, because in no country in the world can you enter as a doctor and be given an apron without presenting the certificate of good conduct from the order of the country you come from".

And to which group do the doctors who leave Albania belong? Is it only the salary they receive abroad that entices them to leave the profession in Albania or is it also related to the working conditions and the climate offered in health institutions in our country?

"Young doctors predominate. Straight out of university, or with a few years of work experience. Some simply say they go for a better life. Some other opportunities to apply a more modern medicine. So they mean that they have better working conditions, better technology, better legal protection".

And while many doctors choose clinics outside Albania, others leave the health centers in the districts to come to Tirana. And according to Brahimaj, this is not solved only with the doctor's bonus.
