Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be present at the funeral ceremony of Archbishop Anastas Yanullatos in Tirana.

Exclusive sources for Top Channel confirm that the head of the Greek government will arrive in Albania on Thursday.

In our country, the reception of the body of the late Archbishop will take place in front of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana, on January 28 at 4:00 p.m. Tributes will be held inside the temple during that afternoon and on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 30, at 11:00 a.m., after the Divine Liturgy.

The Archbishop of Albania, Anastas Janullatos, passed away a day ago at the age of 95 in a hospital in Athens. He closed his eyes forever as a result of the insufficient functioning of many organs, while he had been under the care of doctors in the hospital for weeks.

Anastas Janullatos was elected Archbishop of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania by the Patriarch of Constantinople in January 1991, where he worked for the rebirth of the church that had been destroyed during 40 years of persecution by the communist regime. He dedicated his life to rekindling the missionary spirit of the Orthodox Church, and after more than 30 years in Albania, it seems that he has achieved his goal.
