After Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina blocked peaches from Albania that were found to contain pesticides, the National Food Authority has reacted. According to the AKU, after the notification from the Croatian state about the presence of Nickel above the permitted norm in peaches, an inspection was carried out at the facility, which resulted in the product no longer being in stock.

According to the AKU, it turned out that the product was all sent for export and that it was not distributed on the domestic market. The quantity of 5562 kg that was sent to Croatia has been destroyed, while the case has been referred to the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority (AKVMB) for further measures.

The case in Croatia was discovered on August 21 by the European Union Food Safety authorities during a border check of this country, as a member of the union. The case in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also reported by local media. The exporting company, contacted by Shqiptarja.com the day before, denied that the cargo was its own.
