A British man who tried to smuggle 1-year-old migrant children into the UK by hiding them behind boxes in his van has been sentenced to 4 years in prison.
According to the Home Office , Trevor Saker, 44, was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court after he claimed to Border Force officers that the truck contained shoes for his wife's new business.
The defendant, who now lives in Cadiz, Spain, was driving a Vauxhall Vivaro hire van when he was stopped by Border Force officers at the UK Control Zone in Coquelles, France in July 2018.
Officers found 14 illegal migrants in the back of the van, hidden behind cardboard boxes.
